Anisette Marie Brizard

Founded in 1755 by Marie Brizard and Baptiste Roger, Maison Marie Brizard has now become an empire offering a wide selection of products, including anisette. The story goes that, in 1755, Marie Brizard took in a Caribbean sailor found lying at, what is today, the Place de la Bourse in Bordeaux. After caring for the sailor, to show her his gratitude, he entrusted her with the secret of making a fresh and fragrant anisette liqueur. It was then that Marie Brizard and her nephew, Baptiste Roger, founded the company which went on to be handed down through the generations.
