Briffaut

Briffaut is a traditional dish from Poitou, originating from the poorer communities. It is effectively stale bread which is soaked in crepe batter and then fried, like French toast.

A vanilla pod or a hint of cinnamon can also be added. This pastry was very useful for enduring very cold weather or difficult work in the past.
