The ‘Carotte de Jarnac-Champagne’ carrot, a root vegetable from the family of Apiaceae (previously Umbelliferae) is a traditional root vegetable from the Haute-Saintonge region in Charente-Maritime. It has been cultivated for decades in clay-limestone soils in which the best Pineau and Cognac vines grow.
Its unique taste is highly coveted in the region’s culinary circles and is an integral part of the Charentais food heritage.
