Over the last few years, many producers have started to make 100% plant-based products made from fruits, vegetables, flowers and herbs. Today, they are assembled together under the ‘Poitou-Charentes Endorsed’ identifier. They focus on this quality approach: jams, compotes, chutneys, preserves, purées, syrups, coulis, creams, drinks, fruit pastes, fruits in syrup, herbal teas, other teas, etc…
In order to integrate the logic of local food networks into their approach, they wanted to use fruits and vegetables originating at least 80% from the former Poitou-Charentes Region, unless these products are not available in the region (for example, citrus fruits).
When professionals choose to value these products, it is because they want to increase the value of fruits and vegetables and to offer healthy products to consumers that are free from glucose syrups, dextrose, fructose (except for fruit pastes when preservatives need to be used), without artificial flavourings or additives other than pectins, agar-agar and lemon juice.
