Since 1994, Limousin Pork has been protected by Protected Geographical Indication (P.G.I.). Since 1990, this same pork meat was awarded a Label Rouge which guarantees its superior taste quality.
For consumers, the P.G.I. guarantees that the meat originates from Limousin: all animals are born and raised on land which spans the 3 departments of the historical Limousin Region and a few cantons of bordering departments. In this region of pastures and forests, farms, which are few in number and small in size, have a low environmental impact.
Label Rouge Limousin Pork meat has a beautifully consistent pink colour, whilst the back fat is white and firm. The meat is succulent, tender and delicious. It also keeps very well.
